[лат. fetus — плод]стволовые клетки, происходящие от плода и получаемые из абортивного материала после прерывания беременности (у человека в сроке от 5 до 12 недель) или после выкидыша; эти клетки являются соматическими (тканеспецифическими), прошедшими первичную дифференцировку. Изучены три вида Ф.с.к.: нейральные стволовые клетки, гематопоэтические стволовые клетки и клетки-предшественники, вырабатывающие инсулин. Использование Ф.с.к. в терапевтических целях находится на стадии испытаний и по многим причинам требует определенной осторожности (напр., из-за возможности вирусного заражения реципиента).Толковый биотехнологический словарь.
